Why Nothing Is Truly Alive, And Aristotle s Allegory Of...
Life is Your Reality ââ¬Å"Life is like a camera. Focus on whatââ¬â¢s important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negative, and if things donââ¬â¢t work out, just take another shot.â⬠(Zaid K. Abdelnour) Life for mankind is a duration of time that endures many adventures. It is very subjective, because of this, life is only a concept in an individualââ¬â¢s mind, and is only true if they want it to be. As Descartes concluded, ââ¬Å"I think, therefore, I amâ⬠, an individualââ¬â¢s perspective is their reality. Each individualââ¬â¢s perception of life is their reality, whether it is an adjective, a tool used for motivation, or a collaboration of daily actions our bodies do unconsciously. To confirm the conclusions made: Aristotle ââ¬Å"On the soulâ⬠, Oscar Wide, Ferris Jabrââ¬â¢s article ââ¬Å"Why Nothing is Truly Aliveâ⬠, and Aristotleââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Allegory of The Caveâ⬠will be referenced and discussed. Throughout time individuals have labeled entities as being ââ¬Å"full of lifeâ⬠or being ââ¬Å"livelyâ⬠. People use life as an adjective in our language to describe their perspective, but is life an attribute? If so, then one thing can be more alive than another. This is a good argument to keep in mind when addressing Aristotleââ¬â¢s understanding of the hierarchy of living things, ââ¬Å"Plants only have a vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they have appetites, humans are above animals because it has the power of reason.â⬠(Aristotle).
